Mac's Timber & Terra is a locally owned land services company serving Cadillac and the surrounding mid-Michigan area. We handle land clearing, site preparation, excavation, and wildlife habitat work for property owners who want the job done right the first time.
Mac's Timber & Terra is owned by Jeff McGarry — a mid-Michigan business owner who also serves as Managing Partner of Automation Intelligence, a Flint-based robotics and machine vision company he's led since 2016. Automation Intelligence designs and builds advanced automation systems for manufacturers, and in 2024 it was named one of the Michigan 50 Companies to Watch — the only Genesee County company on that list that year. In 2025, the company was acquired by Peak Technologies, with Jeff staying on to continue leading it.
That background matters more to a land services company than it might sound. Running an engineering and automation business means living by a particular set of standards: show up prepared, use the right tool for the job, do the work correctly the first time, and give people honest numbers they can plan around. Mac's Timber & Terra is that same approach pointed at Michigan land — clearing it, draining it, prepping it, and managing it.
Every project gets planned before a machine ever moves — what needs to come out, what stays, how the ground drains, which permits apply. Preparation is the work.
You'll get an honest assessment and a clear price up front. No vague ballparks, no surprises halfway through the job.
What separates Mac's Timber & Terra is how we approach the work — with the right plan, the right communication, and a finished project you can actually be happy with. Here's what that means in practice.
Clean fence lines. Pads graded to spec. Drainage tile at the right depth. Trails routed for the wind. The details are what separate a job done from a job done right.
You hear from us before the work starts, during the work, and after it's finished. No chasing answers, no missed calls, no wondering what's happening on your property.
We do the work the way it needs to be done — not the fastest way, not the cheapest way, and not the way that looks fine on day one but fails in three years.
Choosing a land services company means trusting someone with your property — sometimes acres of it. The work is messy, the equipment is heavy, and the decisions you make about what stays and what goes will shape what you can do with that land for years. We don't take that lightly. Every project starts with a real conversation about what you want, gets priced honestly, and is done with the kind of care your land deserves.
